New Britain’s Grand List Improves by nearly 1 per cent but in the New Britain Herald's edition of today failed to mention the great improvement that would be realized by our city when the COSTCO store is introduced to the grand list showing a tax revenue increase of $700,000 for the property, inventory, and equipment taxes.
They did mention however, the Dental Care of New Britain on South Main which was due to the property being purchased by Mr. A. Krohn and promoted the old bank building, part of the strip mall, by making the needed improvements to attract his new tenant.

Since the grand list is as of October 1st when Tim Stewart was Mayor, if there was anyone due credit for this increase in value it would be Stewart.
At the end of the day, looking back, Tim O'Brien will not have done anything positive for this city. It will have been a disaster. The only positive there will be is talking about his term in the past tense.
Who will be the candidate to run against him in 2 years that can cut through all the ignorance that is out there? Mark B. was our strongest candidate and he got skunked.
Who is our candidate?!?!
If COSTCO builds their store, it will be in business friendly Newington. They will not tolerate Sherwood and O'Brien.
Frank all of this can be directly attributed to the previous administration not O'Brein's. Even when Costco finally builds their store on the parkland that also can be attributed to the Stewart administration. These idiots willnot have brought in any businesses to the city in the next two years mark my words! And next years Grand List will have a significan decrease due to prepert revaluation.

Not only will these idiots not have brought in one business, but I predict these same idiots will drive out many businesses fleeing all their socialist nonsense.
Expect a much lower grand list in future years and much higher tax rates to pay for all the free stuff for the half of the population who doesn't work or pay taxes and lives completely for free off of the other 50% of us who are still dumb enough to work and pay taxes so they don't ever have to.

I'm sure Walmart would have been on this list if O'Brien and his fellow radicals hadn't driven them out of the city with their demands that the company hire only Puerto Ricans for management positions.
The empty building with grass growing out of the parking lot 4 years later is a nice memorial to your radicalism, isn't it Mr. Mayor?
Big mistake if Costco is forced out of building in New Britain...think of the jobs it would create for area residents, not to mention the income and taxes generated. Not only should we not forget that Wal Mart is no longer with us...Shaws is gone, also, leaving two substantially large buildings standing there, doing absolutely NOTHIING!!
You can't credit these radicals with driving Shaw's out of Connecticut. It was the unions that put them out because they couldn't compete with the better prices and better customer service at all the non-union grocers in the ares.
