One of the best lines heard lately was from Izzy Kapp, a now retired shop foreman from the old Republic Steel Plant in Cleveland. At 17 Izzy immigrated to the USA from England after his family escaped from Poland when he was 12. A more proud American can not be imagined. He often said, "I am overwhelmed by the opportunities my county offers me!"
All five of his children graduated from college. One got an MS, another got a JD, and the third an MD degree. It took Izzy 13 years of night school to get a college degree.
When a young Black kid was being laid off at the end of his 90 day evaluation period he confronted Izzy in the huge Republic Steel Plant break room at lunch and tried to intimidate him with all sorts of NAACP / ACLU / Etc threats"I want this on-the-record in front of everybody." the young man said. "You' firin' me 'cause I'm Black!"
Without even looking up from his sandwich the foreman said, "No. We hired you because you're Black. We're firing you because you're useless."
'Great slogan for the 2012 election:
They Voted You In Because You're Black.
We're Voting You Out Because You're Useless.

This week's launching 07/15/12 of CTLatinoNews, as an online English language daily - was created to provide a voice for Latinos in the State of Connecticut.
CTLatinoNews.com was created to provide a voice for Latinos in Connecticut, as well as to engage non-Latinos on political issues and candidates. As their population has grown over the past decade, many Latino leaders are looking at their "turn" as political representatives.
African Americans have generally represented "communities of color" (African Americans, Latinos, Asian Americans, etc.) in political office.
But, with the growing Latinos population and the dwindling African American population, the forth-coming battle will be issue of "black vs brown", political fights where African Americans and Latinos will be vying for political power.
The NAACP called Mitt Romney offensive for speaking about family values, self-reliance, character and hard work — values touted by Republican Martin Luther King, jr.
The liberal NAACP audience wanted Mitt Romney instead to give an Obama type speech proclaiming that business owners are rich selfish SOBs! They wanted Romney to vow to punish achievers and redistribute their ill-gotten gain (earnings) to black America, a Government check for 40 acres and a mule.
Martin Luther King, jr. (1929-1968). American Baptist Minister and Civil-Rights Leader, awarded Nobel Peace Prize (1964), assassinated (1968).
Martin Luther King, Jr., his father and Grand-father, they were all Republicans.
They Voted You In Because You're Black.

WORKS FOR ME!
The liberals don't like to acknowledge that King, along with his father and grandfather were all Republicans. King resented Democrats for their more than 200 year history of oppressing blacks while blacks owe their very freedoms from slavery, the right to vote and their civil rights all to Republicans who had to overcome strong Democratic opposition to giving black people rights in each case.

It would be interesting to learn how many union teachers in the N.B school district ever conveyed this fact to their students, how many are actually aware of it themselves, and hw many mistakenly believe they were Democrats.

DO YOU THINK THAT ANY NEW BRITAIN TEACHERS TEACH THE CHILDREN THE TRUTH ABOUT HOW IT WAS DEMOCRATS WHO FOUGHT LONG AND HARD TO KEEP BLACKS AS SLAVES WHILE REPUBLICANS FREED THEM,
...OR THAT IT WAS DEMOCRATS WHO OPPOSED GIVING THE VOTE TO BLACKS AND THAT THEY HAVE REPUBLICANS TO THANK FOR THEIR EVEN HAVING THE RIGHT TO VOTE,
...OR THAT DEMOCRATS OPPOSED GIVING THEM EQUAL RIGHTS AND THAT EVEN JOHN F KENNEDY VOTED AGAINST THE EQUAL RIGHTS FOR BLACKS WHEN HE WAS A SENATOR AND THAT IF IT WERE NOT FOR REPUBLICANS OVERCOMING VICIOUS OPPOSITION OF DEMOCRATS, BLACKS WOULD STILL NOT HAVE EQUAL RIGHTS TO WHITES?
Or that Martin Luther King was a Republican.
Or that democratic social programs are really just a way to keep minorities in their place while creating jobs for themselves and their family and friends.
The African Americans community have generally represented "communities of color" (African Americans, Latinos, Asian Americans, etc.) in political office.

Over a 5- 8 year time slot, the Latinos vote will displace the dwindling Blacks in the "push-me, pull-you" world of Connecticut & New Britain politics.
as you pointed out, the African Americans (blacks) definitely have a problem because the Latinos (now being the largest minority in America and seriously outnumbering blacks) are hard working people and are not looking for a free ride, so they will ultimately vote for candidates that will enable them to succeed in jobs and businesses and the "free ride never work a day in your life" mentality that Democrats so love to create will soon dwindle to the point where the welfare state becomes non-existent.
Ten years of superintendent Kurtz was irresponsible, unprofessional, and destructive. Those Board of Education members who supported Kurtz should have been run out of town years ago. Her failed legacy in New Britain will be remembered for years.
Has their ever been a superintendent anywhere in the United States who was disliked by residents, teachers, etc., yet survived so long in education.
Over a 2-year time period the new school superintendent, Kelt L. Cooper will close the education gap by offering students more "learning time".
