Pure political theater because he knows that without the support of gun owners (a huge base in the Republican Party) he has a snow ball's chance in hell of becoming Governor as a Republican candidate. Only problem is that gun owners are not stupid and by joining a radical extremist like Bloomberg in the first place, he has told us all we need to know about the real Mark Boughton. I am a Republican and I would sooner vote for Malloy than Boughton. At least Malloy is honest about who he really is.
How would we be any better off with a RINO governor who is just as radical extremist as Malloy but simply calls himself a Republican in name only? Sometimes you are better off with the devil you know!
Boughton really "screwed the pooch" on this one. In one bold move, he alienated the 300,000 plus gun owners in Connecticut by basically saying that even though he quit this anti-gun group, that he still does not support their cause for the Constitutional right to own firearms, and at the same time he also alienated all the left wing anti-gun liberals by leaving this radical left wing organization in the first place.
Now that he has politically shot himself in the foot with most conservatives and simultaneously lost the support of most liberals for dissing their organization, who out of the roughly 1% support he did have in the most recent poll might I ask is left to support him?
Why would anyone even bother continuing a campaign after such a dismal showing in the polls even before alienating virtually everyone possible?
Maybe this former union school teacher needs someone to explain to him the definition of futility?

LOL you gun wackos are insane. Would rather vote for Malloy "because he is honest about who he really is."
Nah, it's because all you people like to do is bitch and moan. If Malloy is out you might not have anything to bitch and moan about.

Who in their right mind would think a bozo like Boughton even has a chance?

"Gun free" zones are insanity. They are an open invitation to psychos.
