Once Considered Unthinkable, U.S. Sales Tax Gets Fresh Look

If Congress were to ELIMINATE ALL income and corporate taxes and replace it with a consumption (sales) tax people would be more mindful of their spending habits. Last year was the first time in US history that consumers spent more than they earned.

Also the elimination of corporate taxes would bring US businesses back to the US to actually make stuff here again.

A consumption tax would also ensure that the underground economy, people working under the table (or illegals), would finally begin paying their "fair share" as liberals love to say about the "rich".

The best excuse I heard for this is that Obama said we need to do this because this is what France does.

The problem with this logic is that Congress is planning to add this 25% sales tax in addition to the income taxes. They would never consider eliminating the income tax when they could get both taxes and then spend even more trillions of our dollars bloating government even more.

This would destroy any chance of there ever being any jobs in this country (except government jobs) and you will end up with 300 million people living off the government handouts--a true socialist utopia. No one works, everyone just sits around and waits for their government check!

This would be Phony Phil's dream, wouldn't it!

We are being taxed to the hilt now...Federal Income tax, State income tax. state sales tax, excise taxes, inheritance taxes, not to mention "sin taxes". Next thing we know, we'll be charged a penny for every breath we take. Is the time coming when our paychecks will be in the red?
